on 13 Jun 2001 in the Watertown Daily Times of Watertown, Jefferson, NY, as follows:
"Nancy M. Howard Secretary. Deferiet. Nancy M. Howard, 57, of 3651 Five
Mile Road, Allegany, died May 29 in Olean General Hospital. The cause of death
is pending the results of an autopsy.
"Mrs. Howard worked at Clark Bros., Olean, for a time until she raised
her family. In the early 1980s, she worked for Dwyer & Dwyer Attorneys, Olean,
and in 1986, became employed by Dresser- Rand, Olean, as a secretary.
"Born May 23, 1944, in Carthage, daughter of Leslie and Bernice Stevens
Brotherton, she was a 1962 graduate of Carthage Central School. She was a secretary
with the FBI, Washington, D.C., for a year and then was a secretary at St. Regis
Paper Co. until her marriage.
"She married David A. Howard on May 20, 1967, in St. Rita's Church with
the Rev. Francis R. Ruddy officiating.
"Mrs. Howard was a member of St. Bonaventure Church, Allegany, and the
Charles Harbel American Legion Post, Allegany. She served on the board of directors
of the Dresser-Rand Management Association and bowled in a Tuesday night league.
She enjoyed knitting.
"Surviving besides her husband are a son, Mark D., Allegany; two daughters,
Lesley A. Havers, Syracuse, and Mrs. Kenneth (Michelle M.) Parris, Olean; a brother,
Thomas Brotherton, Carthage; a granddaughter, and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces
and great-nephews.
"A funeral Mass was said June 2 at St. Bonaventure Church, Allegany,
with the Rev. Kevin Downey officiating. Burial was in St. Bonaventure Cemetery,
Allegany.
"Arrangements were with Lacto- McIntosh-Spink Funeral Home, Olean.
"Donations may be made to St. Bonaventure Church, 95 E. Main St., Allegany,
N.Y. 14706."
