His obituary appeared on 18 Aug 1998 in the Watertown Daily Times of Watertown, Jefferson, NY, as follows: "Richard T. Hobart Retired Papermaker. Herrings. Richard T. Hobart, 79, of 454 Mill St., Watertown, formerly of 9 Main St., Herrings, died Sunday morning in the emergency room at Samaritan Medical Center, Watertown, after being stricken at his home. He had been ill for several years.
"Mr. Hobart was a papermaker employed by the St. Regis Paper Co. in the Herrings and Deferiet plants for many years, retiring in 1972 due to disability.
"Born June 7, 1919, in Watertown, son of John and Marion Russell Hobart, he attended school in Herrings and served in the Army during World War II in the European theater.
"He married Irene Brotherton on Dec. 24, 1940, in West Carthage with the Rev. Frederick M. Homrighouse officiating.
"Mr. Hobart was a member of Carthage American Legion Post 789 and Carthage Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 7227.
"Surviving besides his wife are a son, David Carl Hobart, Fairfield, Calif.; a daughter, Christina Lee Feeney, Watertown; two brothers, Raymond, West Carthage, and William, Pueblo, Colo.; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
"Two brothers, John and Burt, died before him.
"There will be no funeral or calling hours. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, Carthage. Arrangements are with Bezanilla-McGraw Funeral Home, Carthage."
