Jefferson, NY, as follows: "William E. Harris Sr., 60, Hammond,
Dies. Hammond. William E. Harris Sr., 60, of 826 S. Hammond Road, died at 3:10
p.m. Thursday at his home. Mr. Harris had been in ill health for the past year.
"The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Fox Funeral Home with Rachel
Roberts, lay pastor of Rossie Presbyterian Church, officiating. Burial will be
in Redwood Cemetery.
"Calling hours will be from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday at the funeral
home. Donations may be made to Hospice of Jefferson County Inc.
"Surviving are his wife, Frances; a son, William E. Jr., Hammond; two
daughters, Mrs. Curtis L. (Dorothy) Smith and Virginia L. Harris, both of Hammond;
his stepfather, Douglas Cunningham, Oxbow; two half brothers, Gerald and Ralph
Cunningham, both of Gouverneur; an aunt, Jennie Smith, Harrisville, who was one
of Mr. Harris's foster parents; seven grandchildren; a great-granddaughter and
several nieces, nephews and cousins.
"A sister, Eleanor Fleming, died in 1980. Two brothers also died before
him, Stanley in 1979 and Murlyn in 1989.
"Born July 31, 1935, in the town of Rossie, son of George and Dorothy
Smith Harris, he attended Antwerp high school and served with the Army's 82nd
Airborne Division from 1952 to 1955.
"He married Frances L. Ayen July 13, 1957, in Syracuse.
"Mr. Harris was employed by Antwerp Roofing Co. and at the paper mill
in Natural Dam before becoming a self-employed carpenter. He was last employed
at Pine Tree Point Resort, Alexandria Bay, where he worked for six years until
becoming ill in July 1994.
"He had resided on South Hammond Road for the past 34 years." He
was buried in Redwood cemetery, Redwood, Jefferson, NY. William

Onondaga, NY. Frances L. "Bunny" Ayen
