Murlyn "Murlyn" Harris was born on 27 May 1939 in Rossie, St. Lawrence,
NY. He died on 25 Mar 1989 in Hammond, St Lawrence, NY.
His obituary appeared on 27 Mar 1989 in the Watertown Daily Times of Watertown,
Jefferson, NY, as follows: "George M. Harris, 59, Dies. Hammond.
George Murlyn Harris, 59, South Hammond Road, died Saturday evening at his home.
"The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Fox Funeral Home, with
the Rev. Richard Ploth and Elwood Simon officiating. Burial will be in Riverside
Cemetery, Rossie.
"Calling hours are 7 to 9 this evening at the funeral home.
"Surviving are his wife, Joyce; four sons, Murlyn, Michael, Mark and
Matthew, all of Hammond; two daughters, Mrs. Nelson (Marilyn) Evans, Hammond,
and Mrs. Allen (Marsha) Walsh, Rossie; his mother, Mrs. Dorothy Cunningham, Gouverneur;
eight grandchildren; a brother, William Harris, South Hammond; two half-brothers,
Gerald and Ralph Cunningham, both of Gouverneur, and several nieces, nephews
and cousins.
"A brother, Stanley Harris, died in 1979, and a sister, Eleanor Flemming,
died in 1980.
"Born in the Town of Rossie on May 27, 1929, a son of George and Dorothy
Smith Harris, he married Joyce Hutton May 8, 1954, in Gouverneur.
"The couple operated a farm in the Hammond area. They later moved to
their home on the South Hammond Road, where they had lived for the past 18 years.
"Mr. Harris was retired from the Balducci Co. of Gouverneur, where he
was operator of the mill for crushed stone."
He was buried in Riverside cemetery, Rossie, St. Lawrence, NY. George
Murlyn "Murlyn" Harris and Joyce Hutton were married on 8 May 1954 in Gouverneur,
St. Lawrence, NY. Joyce Hutton (daughter
of Robert H. Hutton and Frances Yerdon) was born. George Murlyn "Murlyn"
