374. Joseph A. Smith was born on 23 Mar 1942 in Hermon, St. Lawrence, NY. He died on 7 Nov 1973 in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. He was buried on 10 Nov 1973. His obituary appeared in, as follows: "Joseph A. Smith, 31, Hermon, died unexpectedly Thursday morning (Nov. 8, 1973) at Royal Victoria Hospital in Montreal where he had been a patient since Aug. 30.
"Mr. Smith was severely burned in an explosion at the home of his foster parents, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Blandin, of Hermon, while he was attempting to fix a gas heater. He had undergone a series of skin grafts and was expected to return home for the holidays.
"Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Green Funeral Home, Hermon, with the Rev. Charles Starr of the United Methodist Church of Hermon officiating.
"Surviving are his widow, Bonnie; two children, Jennie Lyn, 6, and Joseph III, 8; two sisters, Mrs. Alva Furze, of Syracuse and Mrs. Marcia Keenley, of Virginia; and a half-brother, Elmer.
"Mr. Smith was born March 23, 1942 in Hermon, a son of Joseph and Irene Taylor Smith. After his mother's death, when he was 2½, he went to live with Mr. and Mrs. Fred Blandin, of Hermon. He attended Hermon schools and married Bonnie Dusharm in Hermon June 6, 1964.
"He lived in Hermon all his life except for brief periods when his work took him to California and Connecticut." 1. Joseph A.
