447. Arthur F. Whitmarsh was born on 26 Apr 1939 in Russell, St. Lawrence, NY. He served in the military 20 years in the U. S. Navybetween 1958 and 1978. He died on 4 Feb 1993 in Ogdensburg, St. Lawrence, NY. His obituary appeared on 6 Feb 1993 in the Watertown Daily Times of Watertown, Jefferson, NY, as follows: "Arthur F. Whitmarsh Funeral Is Sunday. Russell. The funeral for Arthur F. Whitmarsh, 53, Belleville Road, a 20-year veteran of the Navy, will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at the French Funeral Home, Edwards, with the Rev. Raymond Shaw, pastor of the Russell First United Methodist Church, officiating. "Spring burial will be in South Russell Cemetery, with full military honors.
"Mr. Whitmarsh died Thursday evening in A. Barton Hepburn Hospital, Ogdensburg, of congestive heart failure.
"Calling hours will be 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home. Contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or Russell Volunteer Rescue Squad.
"Surviving are two sons, Allen, Edwards, and Harold, Russell; his mother, Muriel Manning Whitmarsh Hanno, Lowville; three brothers, Frederick and Sidney, both of Russell, and Belden, Summerhill, and a sister, Susan Whitmarsh, Cranberry Lake.
"A brother, Wayne T. Whitmarsh Sr., died March 4, 1991.
"He was born April 26, 1939, in Russell, a son of Belden and Muriel Manning Whitmarsh. He attended Knox Memorial High School.
"Mr. Whitmarsh entered the Navy in September 1958 and served for 20 years. His service included duty in the Vietnam War. He later worked at the Lockheed Corp. shipyard in Washington state.
"In 1984 he returned to Russell and was a custodian at Knox Memorial Central School for several years until his retirement. A marriage to Nellie A. Curtis ended in divorce." He was buried in S. Russell cemetery, Russell, St. Lawrence, NY.

Arthur F. Whitmarsh and Nellie A. Curtis were married. They were divorced. Nellie A. Curtis (daughter of Earl Curtis and Rosella Shaw) was born. Arthur F. Whitmarsh and Nellie A. Curtis had the following children:
