Stiles, 84, Cocoa Beach, Fla., a former resident of Syracuse and a native of Richville, died June 8 in Cape Canaveral Hospital.
“There will be no services or calling hours. Arrangements are with the Beckman-Williamson Funeral Home, Cocoa Beach. Donations may be made to Riverside Presbyterian Church, 3400 N. Atlantic Ave., Cocoa Beach, Fla. 32931 or to the Shriners Transportation Fund, c/o Azan Shrine Temple, 1591 W. Eau Gallie Blvd., Melbourne, Fla. 32935.
“Surviving are his wife, Mary; a son, John, Syracuse, and two grandchildren.
“Born in Richville, March 1, 1910, a son of Daniel George and Alice Love Stiles, he graduated from Richville High School in 1929 and Cornell University, Ithaca, with a master's degree in agriculture in 1934.
“He served in the Army during World War II, retiring as a lieutenant colonel and remained active in the reserves until he retired in the 1960's.
“Mr. Stiles taught vocational agriculture in Wellsville and Honeoye Falls and opened the first P&C Food Store in Buffalo and another in Syracuse. He became vice president of personnel and labor relations for P&C Foods Inc., Syracuse. He lived in Syracuse for many years before moving to Florida in 1974.
“He was a member of Riverside Presbyterian Church and Beachside Shrine, Cocoa Beach, Scottish Rite and Kiwanis Club, both in Syracuse, the Masonic Lodge, Boston, Mass., and the Retired Officers Club.”
