This cemetery was copied by Mrs. Susannah E. Whitcomb, Corning, NY - Feb.
22, 1969 - all stones that remain were copied. This cemetery is located in
the town of Lindley, Steuben Co., NY - located on Rt. 15 between Lindley
& Lawrenceville, PA. It is bordered on the north by the property of Mrs.
Erma Brant, which her property having been once a bus garage, then a gasoiline
stateion and now she has the Stout RealEstate Agency there. Bordered on the
South by the Dale Wells property on the East by the Arthur Kuhl property
and West by Highway Route 15. A road at the Brant property takes you into
the cemetery. One grave unmarked, having a large fagstone about six
foot long and four foot wide, laying flat on the ground, I was told by Mrs.
Brant is the tomb of an unknwn person. His name not know to anyone today.
He is to have dug his own grave, laid up a grick wall on all four sides then
located this large slab of flagstone and requested this flagstone be placed
over his tomb at his burial. It is said a few years back someone removed
the stone and his coffin could be seen and the town workman had to replace
the stone back in place.
