Wellington Warner obituary

May 1931

     Wellington Warner, who was born in this village sixty-five years ago, died at his home here Friday afternoon May 15. A little over a week ago he sustained a stroke while about his yard and had to be carried to the house. He had been in failing health for the past two years. Mr. Warner was in the employ of the Middleburgh and Schoharie Railroad for over thirty-five years, starting in at the freight house, then to fireman on the road and later to engineer. Two years ago, owing to poor health, he was obliged to give up his work. He was a member of the M. E. Church, La Bastile Lodge No. 494 I. O. O. F. and the Middleburgh Fire Department. He is survived by his widow and five children, Mrs. Manning Whitbeck of Schenectady, Mrs. Raymond Hagadorn of Delanson, Miss Leona Warner of Worcester, Mrs. James McKinty of this village and Glordon Warner of Sonyea; two sisters Mrs. Adelbert Watson of Livingstonville and Mrs. Roxey Kilts of Albany, and two brothers George and Clinton Warner, both of this village. Funeral Was held at the home Monday, Rev. F. J. Ball officiating. Burial in local cemetery.

Resolutions of Respect

     In memory of Brother Wellington Warner, who died May 15, 1931.
     Once again death hath summoned a Brother Odd Fellow, and the golden gateway to the Eternal City has opened to welcome him to his home. He has completed his work in the ministering to the wants of the afflicted, in shedding light into darkened souls and in bringing joy into the places of misery, and his reward has received the plaudit "well done" from the Supreme Master.
     And, Whereas, the all-wise and merciful Master of the Universe, has called our beloved and respected Brother home, and he having been a true and faithful member of our beloved Order, therefore be it
     Resolved, That La Bastile Lodge, No. 494, I. O. O. F., of Middleburgh in testimony of its loss, drape its Charter in mourning for thirty days and that we tender to the family of our deceased brother our sincere condolence in their deep affliction and that a copy of these resolutions be sent to the family.
