In the name of God Amen I William Canaday of the town of Esperance County of Schoharie and State of New York being of sound mind and memory do hereby make publish and declare this my last will and testament in manner following.

First I order and direct my executors herein after named as soon after my decease as practicable to pay my funeral expenses and all my past debts.

Second I having contracted for the erection of a monument and if not already erected at the time of my death I order and direct my executors to erect on a lot owned by myself and my three sons Loyd George and Jeremiah in the Albany and Troy Rural Cemetery a stone monument to be used as a family monument the cost of which is not to exceed five hundred dollars.

Third I order and direct my executors from the funds of my estate to deposit in my Solvent Savings Bank in the city of Albany three hundred dollars the interest annually to be drawn and used by the Albany and Troy Rural Cemetery Association or as much of said interest as shall be considered by the Association necessary to beautify and keep in repair said lot and grounds.

Fourth I give and bequeath to each of my following named grandchildren to those that are twenty one years of age and to those that are not as soon as they shall have become twenty one years of age: Clara L. Canaday, Wm Canaday, Celia Canaday, Thrilis? W. Canaday children of Loyd Canaday and Walter Canaday and Loyd Canaday children of Jeremiah Canaday the sum of one hundred dollars and I direct that in case either of my said grandchildren shall die during my life time or shall die before they become twenty one years of age then his or her legacy as the case may be shall lapse into the residue of my estate.

Fifth I give devise and bequeath to my granddaughters Flora C. Canaday and Bessie A. Canaday daughters of George Canaday all the residue of my estate real and personal share and share alike the said legacies to be kept in trust by my son George Canaday until the said Bessie A. shall become twenty one years of age and then to be shared and further direct that in case of the death of either of my said granddaughters Bessie A. or Flora C. to their legacy to go to the surviving one and in case the surviving one shall die their legacy to go to her father George Canaday if her he survives her and in case my son George Canaday and his daughters Bessie A. and Flora C. should all die before my decease then the said legacies to go to any living grandchildren the children of my sons Loyd Canaday and Jeremiah Canaday share and share alike.

Sixth and Lastly I appoint my son George Canaday and my nephew Charles Ryder executors of this my last will and testament hereby revoking all former wills by me made. The erasure of the words "used and" were made before the signing and witnessing of this instrument which contains these pages and are unnumbered on the upper right corner. In witness whereof I have hereunto subscribed my name this fifth day of May in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and eighty eight.
