Will of William H. Burton

I William H. Burton of the town of Jefferson, Schoharie County, New York, of the age of 77 years, do make publish and declare this my last will and testament as follows:

First, I direct that all my just debts be paid.

Second, All my household furniture, beds, bedding, I give & bequeath to my four children John Burton, Charles P. Burton, Amos Burton & Sarah Roe share and share alike, the same to be divided between them without inventory.

Third. I have already advanced to my daughter Sarah the sum of one hundred dollars & to equalize this, I give to my sons John, Charles and Amos aforementioned each the sum of one hundred dollars, and to my grandson Burr Burton fifty dollars.

Fourth. The rest and remainder of my estate real and personal I direct to be divided into nine equal parts and I give and devise the same as follows: To my sons John, Charles P. and Amos & my daughter Sarah Roe each two parts and to my grandson Burr Burton one part, provided however that in the case of my grandson Burr Burton I direct that the sum devised to and payable to him shall be held by my Executor and paid to him when he shall arrive at the age of 21 years � but if he die before arriving at the age of 21 years or before me then in that case his share to be paid to my four children share & share alike. All interest rec�d upon this fund to be divided among my 4 children and no interest paid to Burr. I hereby appoint my son John Burton as sole Executor of this my last will and testament hereby revoking all former wills by me made.

In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this 2nd day of December 1893.

The foregoing instrument consisting of a little more than one half sheet was at the date thereof signed, sealed published and declared by the said William H. Burton as & for his last will and testament in presence of us who at his request & in his presence & in the presence of each other have subscribed our names as witnesses thereto.
