GRAND GORGE – Willie B. Brainerd, 82, of Grand Gorge Apartments and formerly of Bull Hill Road, West Conesville, died Wednesday, Feb. 11, 1998 at his residence.

He was born April 15, 1915 in Gilboa, the son of Leonard and Mary Etta (Scoville) Brainerd. He married Grace Bevins on Jan. 5, 1939 at Andes. Grace died April 2, 1990.

Willie was a lifelong Gilboa resident. He was a dairy farmer and was employed on the Franklin Hess Farm in West Conesville for 46 years. He retired in 1977. He was a member of the West Conesville United Methodist Church.

He is survived by three daughters and sons-in-law, Muriel and Ted Kilmer of Conesville, Paulette and Roger Kilmer of Walton, and Mildred and Raymond Otten of Ballston Spa; 12 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; a sister and brother-in-law, Ethel and Francis Vermilyea of Oneonta; a brother, Ivan Brainerd of Altamont; and nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, Feb. 14, 1998 at 2 p.m. at the Conesville United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Martha Vink, pastor, officiating. Burial will take place in the spring at the Gilboa Cemetery.

Friends may call at the Hall Funeral Home, Main Street, Grand Gorge, at their convenience on Friday, Feb. 13 in the afternoon and evening, at which time the family will be in attendance.

Expressions of sympathy may be made in Willie’s memory to either the Conesville Rescue Squad, Conesville, N.Y. or to the Quality of Life Fund at Robinson Terrace, Harper Street, Stamford, N.Y. 12167.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Hall Funeral Home, Stamford and Grand Gorge.
