Richard Hansen was born Nov. 6, 1790 in Rensselaer Co., NY to Capt. Dirck Hansen and Helena Louw. Richard Hansen
was married to Mary Catherine (Polly) Nealy, the daughter of Matthew Nealy and Elizabeth McKinney.

WILL OF RICHARD HANSEN

In the name of God Amen, I RICHARD HANSEN of the town of SHARON in the county of SCHOHARIE and state of New York of the age of eighty years and being of sound mind and memory and considering the uncertainty of this frail and transitory life do make publish and declare this to be my last will and testament herein directing what disposition shall be made with the property and effects which the Father of Mercies hath blessed me so that in the hour of my disolution I may be free from all mortal cares and perplexities and the better prepared to enter that eternal existence beyond the grave as I humbly trust and believe through the merits of my blessed Redeemer. 

First after all my lawful debts and funeral expenses are paid and discharged I give and devise unto my well beloved and faithful son MATTHEW HANSEN all that farm piece or parcel of land and the appertenances whereunto belonging situate lying and being in the town of Sharon aforesaid bounded and described as follows on the east by the center of DAVID BORSH on the south by the lands of the said DAVID BORSH on the west by the lands of LOUIS BAXTER, PHILIP BECKER and PETER LOW Jr. and on the north by the lands of HENRY and WILLIAM BAXTER, ? HAGADORN and JAMES P. ELDREDGE containing about on hundred and sixty-five acres of land and being the farm now owned and occupied by me excepting and reserving from the above farm and lands two fields or lots of land lying in the north east corner of said farm to me measured off as the fences of said lots now lies containing about forty acres of land more or less which devises and lands is to him and his heirs and assigns forever subject only to the pay executor herein after mentioned. 

Second, I give devise and bequeath unto my well beloved son NICHOLAS HANSEN the two lots of land or fields with the appertenances thereunto belonging lying in the north east corner of the said farm which was reserved there from bounded and described as follows; on the north by the land of Mr. HENRY BAXTER and JAMES ELDREDGE, on the east by the lands of said DAVID BORST and on the south and east by the lands and farm herein before devised to my son MATTHEW HANSEN containing about forty acres of land more or less to him and to his heirs and assigned forever. 

Third I give devise and bequeath to my said beloved son NICHOLAS HANSEN the sum of five hundred dollars in cash in addition to the said land to be paid to him in one year after my decease by my said son MATTHEW HANSEN which I do hereby make a heir upon the land devised herein before to him and to his heirs and assigned forever. 

Fourth I give devise and bequeath unto my well beloved grandson , NEWEL BECKER son of my daughter, HELEN BECKER, the sum of two hundred dollars to be paid to him in one year after my decease by my son MATTHEW HANSEN aforesaid which amount I also make a lien upon the land herein before devised to him and to his heirs and assigns forever. 

Fifth I give devise and bequeath unto my well beloved grandson JUDSON BECKER son of my said daughter, HELEN, the sum of two hundred dollars to be paid to him in one year after my decease by my said son MATTHEW HANSEN which amount I also make a lien upon the land herein before devised to him and to his heirs and assigns forever. 

Sixth, I give devise and bequeath unto my well beloved son PETER HANSEN, RICHARD HANSEN and LUDLEY HANSEN all the money notes accounts and bonds and mortgages I may leave at my decease to be converted into cash by my executor herein after named as the same can be done each to share and share alike to them and to their heirs and assigns forever. 

Seventh I give devise and bequeath unto my said beloved son MATTHEW HANSEN aforesaid all the residue and remainder of my personal property of whatever name, nature or kind not herein before devised to him and to his heirs and assigns forever. 

And lastly I do hereby nominate and appoint my well beloved son MATTHEW HANSEN to be the executor of this my last will and testament hereby revoking all forever wills by me made. The witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this 21st day of February in the year of our Lord 1871.

The above and foregoing instrument consisting of one sheet was at the date thereof signed sealed published and declared by the said RICHARD HANSEN as and for his last will and testament in presence of us who at his request and in his presence and in the presence of each other have subscribed our names as witnesses thereto and our respective places of abode

Schoharie County, Surrogate Court in the matter of proving the will of RICHARD HANSEN dec'd, Schoharie County . Wm. E. Spring and Stephen Borsh of Sharon in the county of Schoharie being duly sworn in open court do declare and say that they are subscribing witnesses to the last will and testament of Richard Hansen of the town of Sharon in the count of Schoharie, deceased. That the said Richard Hansen did in the presence of these deponents subscribe his name at the end of the instrument which is now shown and exhibited to these deponents and which purports to be the last will and testament of the Richard Hansen and which bears date on the 21st day of February in the year of our Lord 1871 deponents further say that the said Richard Hansen the will testator did at the same time of subscribing his name as aforesaid at the end of the said will declared the said instrument so subscribed and now exhibited to be his last will and testament and there deponents did thereupon subscribe their names at the end of the said will as attesting witnesses deponents at the request and in the presence of the said testator and of each other deponents further say that at the said time when they said testator subscribed his name to the said last will as aforesaid and at the time of these deponents describing their names as attesting witnesses therein as aforesaid the said Richard Hansen was of sound mind and memory of full age to execute a will of real estate and was not under any restraint to the knowledge information and belief of these deponents and further these deponents Stephen Borsh
