Phoebe (Lawton) Heason obituary

Mrs. Phoebe L. Heason
April 5, 1928

     Mrs. Phoebe Lawton Heason, wife of Peter Heason of Stamford, N. Y., and formerly of this village, passed away at her home in that village on Saturday, aged 67, after a several weeks’ illness resulting from a stroke of apoplexy. The deceased was the daughter of the late Benjamin Lawton of this vicinity and spent the greater part of her life in Huntersland until moving here a few years ago. While here Mr. And Mrs. Heason conducted a restaurant on Railroad avenue with success.
     Mrs. Heason was domestic in her nature, industrious and a Christian woman, loyal to her church, the M. E. church of this village, and the Woman’s Home and Foreign Missionary Society and the Ladies Aid, to all of which she was faithful in attendance. Mrs. Heason is survived by her husband, a daughter, Mrs. Elmer West of Stamford, a brother, Truman Lawton of Berne, and three sisters in the far west. The funeral was held in the M. E. church of this village on Tuesday afternoon at one o’clock, Rev. Comstock of the Methodist church of Stamford, assisting the Rev. A. J. Sunderland. Burial was in the Middleburgh cemetery.
