Memorial To Professor Lewis
October 28, 1926

The County Sunday School Association in session at Leesville Tuesday, October 19th, adopted the following memorial to Professor Lewis:
Professor M. W. Lewis, County Education Superintendent, and Superintendent of the Adult Department of the Middleburgh Methodist Sunday school, was promoted on October first to the higher school of Christ, the General Superintendent and Supreme Teacher. We miss his genial spirit, his wise cunsel, his inspiring zeal, his aggressive leadership, and were we not confident that "to depart and be with Christ is far better," we could wish that he had tarried with us. We feel that we cannot raise for him a more fitting memorial, than to renew our devotion to Christian culture. As the septre of Moses was taken up by Joshua, and the mantle of Elijah fell upon Elisha, so may another be raised to take the place of this prince who has fallen in Israel.
                                                                                                                   Committee.
