Menzo W. Chase obituary

"CHERRY VALLEY. Aug. 18 - Menzo W. Chase, 97, Cherry Valley's oldest resident, who died on Wednesday afternoon at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Earl Alpaugh, Sr., was buried today in Dorloo Cemetery after the funeral services held at 2 o'clock in the Dorloo Methodist Church. Rev. Charles M. Fulton of Cherry Valley Mehodist church officiated. He was born in South Valley Sept. 14, 1842. He was the son of the late. Harvey H. Chase and Laney Wise Chase. He moved to Dorloo when a boy and received a common school education. Then he followed the trade of a shoemaker until he came to this village. About seven years ago Mr. and Mrs. Chase left Dorloo to make their home with their daughter, Mrs. Earl Alpaugh Sr. and family. Besides his wife and daughter, Mrs. Carl(sic) Alpaugh Sr., he leaves five grandchildren and one great granddaughter." ["Schenectady Gazette," Saturday, Aug. 19, 1939]
