Mrs. Solomon Swart

Sunset and evening star
And one clear call for me

Again Death has come to us and claimed one, Mrs. Solomon Swart, who has spent her whole life with us. Mrs. Swart has been in poor health the past few years but for the past two weeks had rapidly failed until the end came last Thursday morning. Loving care and medical skill could not keep her for the Master's summons had come.

Lucretia Jane Chase Swart, the only child of George and Pollirinda Ash Chase was born at West Fulton, July 13, 1860 very near the home where she lived at the time of her death, Jan. 1, 1882, she was united in marriage with Solomon Swart. Into this home children came. They have now grown to manhood and womanhood and will always cherish mother's memory. She was a kind, loving wife and mother, devoted to home with its many cares and duties. Our sympathy goes out to the companion who has traveled life's pathway with her so many years, and to the children who will miss mother's loving greetings when they come home.

Each year on Labor day the children and others of the family have gathered at their home for the Swart reunion. Last July 13 the children gathered at the home to spend mother's birthday with her.

We can only say her mission here is ended and she passes to her reward. Her mission, building a home and molding the character of children, was the greatest of all and we can only finish by quoting Proverbs 31-28, "her children arise up and call her blessed; her husband also and he praiseth her."

Her funeral was held at the home Sunday at 1 p. m. Rev. W. Fox officiated, bringing his message from Job. 16-32. The floral pieces, silent messages of love and sympathy were many and beautiful. Interment was in Breakabeen cemetery.

Besides her husband she is survived bt eleven children: Mrs. DeWitt Rosecrans of Breakbeen, Seymour Swart of Ithaca, Mrs. George Ingraham and Rev. George Swart of Schenectady, Minard Swart and Mrs. Harold MacNeil of Cobleskill, Mrs. Wallace English of Richmondville, D. A. Swart, Gordon Swart, Guy Swart and Mrs. Harry Noxon of West Fulton, a number of grandchildren, cousins and many neighbors and friends.

Among those from out of town who attended the funeral of Mrs. Swart were: Mr. and Mrs. George Ingraham, rev. and Mrs. George Swart, Oliff Noxon, Mr. and Mrs. Wasvary, Mr. and Mrs. William Chase and daughters of Schenectady, Seymour Swart of Ithaca, Joe Ash of Gloversville, Mr. and Mrs. Wallace English of Richmondville, Mr. and Mrs. Minard Swart, Mr. and Mrs. Harold MacNeil of Cobleskill, Mr. and Mrs. DeWitt Rosecrans, Mr. and Mrs. Brewster Bouck and Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Shafer of Breakabeen.
