Jacob T. Alger obituary

July 1930

     Jacob T. Alger, eighty-two, died at his home in Brooky Hollow, Thursday, July 17, of heart trouble. he died in the house which he built himself and where he has lived for the past sixty-three years, his being the first death to take place in the home. He was a farmer by occupation and also ran a saw and shingle mill for years. At one time he served as school trustee in his district. Mr. Alger was an industrious, hard working man and one who enjoyed the friendship of many. He is survived by his widow, who was Sarah Ann Zimmer, five children, Mrs. Fred Becker and Mrs. Fred Shultes of Gallupville, Wellington of Berne, Eldridge of Altamont and Ray, who lived at home; two sisters, Mrs. Charles Macbain of Waverly, Pa. and Mrs. Christian Shantz of Brooky Hollow, and fifteen grandchildren. Funeral was held at the home Sunday at 1 P. M., Rev. F. J. Ball officiating. Burial in local cemetery.
