Last Will & Testament of Jacob Sowle, Senior

In the name of God amen. I Jacob Sowle Senr. Of Blenheim Schoharie County & State of New York being week in body, but of sound & perfect mind and memory, do make & publish this my last will & testament in manner and form following, that is to say,
First, I give and bequeath to my beloved wife Meribah Sowle the use profits and avails of the one equal third part of all my landed estate after my decease during her natural life, and if a surplus of the neet [net?] proceeds of the said thirds of my landed estate be left after my said beloved wife hath her maintainance [sic] at the end of any year then my Executors shall give such
surplus if any to my beloved son Lewis Sowle � I will and bequeath to my said beloved son Lewis Sowle the remaining two thirds of my landed estate after my decease, and also the said one third willed to my beloved wife Mirabah Sowle, I will and bequeath to my beloved son Lewis Sowle after my beloved wife’s decease.

And during the time that my beloved daughter Phebe Sowle shall remain a single woman that she remain at home with her mother as one with her to enjoy the profits of the two thirds of my landed property willed to my beloved wife. And I do further will and bequeath that my beloved wife Meribah Sowle have all my wearing apparel and also all my household furniture to do with as may seem fit and best. And I do further will and bequeath to my said beloved wife Meribah Sowle one good Cow to be provided & taken care of by my son Lewis Sowle, and to be his after his mother’s decease. I do furthermore will and bequeath to my loving son Lewis Sowle all my farming utensils and also all my stock of every kind excepting the use of the one Cow to his mother during her lifetime. And furthermore I will and bequeath to my loving son Silas Sowle thirty dollars. And also I will and bequeath to my loving son Jacob Sowle, Junior, thirty Dollars. And also to my loving daughter Sarah Sawdy, Rebecca Simmons and also to my beloved daughter Betty Simmons And also to my beloved daughter Massah Frazee And also to my beloved daughter Abigail Antony [sic, actually Abigail Anthony] and also to my beloved daughter Nancy Rogers, and also to my beloved daughter Meribah Pooler and also to my beloved daughter Phebe Sowle each five Dollars, all of the above said sums amounting to One hundred dollars I will & order my beloved son Lewis Sowle to pay or cause to be paid
to his Brothers and Sisters, to each their respective sums at the Expiration of four years after my decease � And I do will and bequeath all my Cooper tools to my beloved son Jacob Sowle, Junior, and I do will and order that my son Lewis Sowle collect to his own use all of my debts and also to pay all my debts and funeral charges � And I will that if anything not mentioned in
this will be found after my decease that it be the property of my loving wife at her disposal � I do will and order that my son Lewis Sowle and my son in law Eliphalet Frazee be the Executors to this my last will and testament, Hereby revoking all former wills by me made � The witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal at Blenheim this 31st day of January in the year of our Lord one thousand and eight hundred and seven.

Signed, sealed, published and declared by the above named Jacob Sowle Senr. To be his last will and testament in presence of us who have hereunto subscribed our names as witnesses in the presence of the testator.
