Joachim G. Staats death notice

December 18, 1801

     Died, at Schoharie, on the 8th inst. In the 31st year of his age, Joachim G. Staats, Esquire, Clerk of the County of Schoharie. He possessed a sound judgement, inflexible integrity and a benevolent heart. The great consideration universally shown him in the county while living evidence his worth of character. In his death his family bemoan the irreparable loss of an affectionate husband and kind parent, and the community a most worthy and valuable officer and citizen.
