Mrs. Jane E. Cook obituary

February 11, 1892

Mrs. Jane E. Cook, widow of the late Thomas Cook, died Saturday morning, Feb. 6th, at 8 o'clock of pneumonia, after a sickness of a few days. Kind neighbors, loving friends and medical skill did all that could be done for her comfort and relief but to no avail. From the first it seemed that the messenger of death had marker her for a victim. She realized this but death had for her no terms. Long years ago she made her peace with God. She was resigned to her fate; she was ready to go. We never saw one more tranquil and unconserned about the future. Her faith was sure and steadfast and reached within in the veil. In 1843, April 1st when about 18, she united with the Christian church at Huntersland and for nearly 49 years lived an exemplary christian life. Twenty seven years ago this month she became the wife of Thomas Cook and until his death which occured about nine weeks ago theirs was a peaceful and happy home. Twenty-two of those twenty-seven years were spent in our midst in the home now indeed vacant. She leaves one sister, Mrs. Dr. Snyder of Rensselaerville, and one brother Lester Tibbits.
