     John Becker died at the home of his son, Fred Becker, between Schoharie and Gallupvllle, Saturday, May 23rd. The Wednesday before he sustained a stroke from which he did not rally.
     Mr. Becker was born in the town of Berne, Albany County, near Huntersland, 81 years age. He was a son of Mathias Becker and passed the most of his life in the vicinity where he first saw the light of day. He was a farmer by occupation. Some 20 years ago he sustained a stroke from which he never fully recovered. A couple of years ago he went to live with his son, Fred, near Gallupville.
     Mr. Becker was a man of many good qualities and his friends were numerous. His wife and several children preceded him to the better land. His son, Fred alone survives him.
     His funeral took place Tuesday from his late home; Rev. L. H. Grandy of this place had the services in charge. Interment in the Cemetery at Huntersland.
