Dated 24 March 1881

I Jacob Canada of the town of Middleburgh in the County of Schoharie and State of NewYork of the age of seventy eight years and being of sound Mind and Memory do make publish and declare this my last will and testament in manner following that is to say:

First I give and forgive to my daughter Besty Ann Alonison? a certain bond and Mortgage executed by her to me to secure to me the payment of the sum of nine hundred and seventy five dollars with interest and dated April 1st eighteen sixty four And the sum of four hundred dollars I give and bequeath to her in addition to said bond and Mortgage, both on the condition nevertheless that she the said Besty Ann will and faithfully Keep, Nurse, Maintain and provide for my imbecile daughter Alvina Canada for and during her natural life But the said Mortgage and bond are not to be surrendered or satisfied nor said legacy paid to her by my executors herein after appointed until she the said Besty shall furnish and deliver to my said executors satisfactory security that she will well and faithfully provide for my said daughter Alvina as above provided But so long as said Besty Ann shall Keep and provide for the said Alvina the interest on said bond and Mortgage shall be forgiven and she shall have the interest upon said legacy of four hundred dollars.

Second I give and bequeath to my wife Catherine Canada all my household furniture including all beds, bedstands, and bedding and all stoves cooking utensils and whatever I have used in pertaining to housekeeping one cord, five sheep, ten fouls, and one hog forever and the use of the westerly half of my dwelling house and her fire wood off the farm being my homestead farm the keeping for one cow the year round and a place to keep ten fowls so long and as longer as my said farm shall remain unsold by my executors as herein after provided and all of said privileges to care with the sale of said farm And I also give and bequeath to my said wife Catherine the sum of one thousand dollars and said last named sum and all the gifts and legacies herein contained are expressly given and bequeathed to her in heir of dower and in lieu of all her rights exemptions and dower as my widow and not otherwise.

Third I give and bequeath to my daughter Eliza Chase the sum of four hundred dollars.

Fourth I hereby charge the payment of the legacies herein given that shall not be paid not of my personal estate upon my said estate herein after maintained

Firth I hereby give and devise to my friends Dr. George Jackson and Albert Becker of Huntersland in said town of Middleburgh all my real estate being my homestead farm at the place last aforesaid in trust nevertheless that as soon after my decease and at such time as in there payment shall be for interest of my estate they sell my said real estate and in their names my executors or otherwise as they shall be advised convey the same to the purchaser which they are hereby expressly authorized to do and out of the proceeds and ___? of my said real estate sold by them as aforesaid they pay and discharge the said legacies and provisions herein contained in full and pay the surplus which shall remain after such payments in full to my sons Theodore and William Canada and my daughter Cordelia Zimmer share and share alike.

Lastly I do hereby nominate and appoint my friends Dr. George Jackson and Albert Becker of Huntersland aforesaid to be the executors of this my last will and testament. hereby revoking all former wills by me made In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this 24th day of March in the year of the Lord one thousand eight hundred and eighty one
