The death of Mrs. Ellen Collins, 93, occurred at her late home in the Town of Cherry Valley, Thursday night, March 6th following an illness of about three years.

Mrs. Collins was born in the Town of Sharon May 1, 1847 a daughter of the late John Mereness and Hannah Relyea. She attended the rural school in her neighborhood and on May 4, 1863 she was united in marriage to Walter Collins at Argusville. His death occurred Sept. 15, 1907. In 1880 Mrs. and Mrs. Collins moved from Sharon Hill to the farm now occupied by her son, Charles Collins and where she was since resided.

She was the oldest member of the Leesville Lutheran church and the Ladies' Aid society of the church. The decease had many friends and was loved by all who knew her.

The funeral was held at the Lutheran church in Leesville Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock with Rev. G. Oliver Sands, pastor of the church officiating. Lewis Lipe of Sharon Springs sang the hymn "Face to Face" during the services. The body was placed in the vault at the Lappeus funeral home in Sharon Springs to await burial in Leesville in the spring.

The surviving relatives are her son, Charles Collins, a daughter, Mrs. Fred Lockwood of Chestnut Street in the Town of Cherry Valley, five grandchildren, Chester Lockwood, Lovillo and Eugene Collins, Mrs. Warren Wilson of Liberty and Arthur McFee of Binghamton, also ten great grandchildren.
