Sharon Springs - Eugene G. Collins, 81 of Keller Road, Sharon Springs died Monday, Oct. 17, 1988 at Bassett Hospital, Cooperstown.

He was born June 8, 1907 in the Town of Sharon, the son of Charles H. and Anna Cox VanSchaick Collins.

A lifelong area resident, he was a retired farmer. He was a member of St. Matthew's Lutheran church, Leesville and a 59 year member of Sharon Springs Lodge 624, F & A.M., which awarded him a Distinguished Service Apron several years ago.
A brother, Lovillo Collins of Cherry Valley survives.

Funeral services will be a 2 p.m. Friday, Oct. 21, 1988 in St. Matthew's Lutheran Church, Leesville, with the Rev. Eugene Umberger, a retired pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Sharon Cemetery, Sharon Springs.

Calling Hours are at the Lappeus Funeral Home, Sharon Springs, 7-9 p.m. Thursday, when the family will be in attendance. A Masonic service will be held Thursday at 8 p.m.
