Charles Collins

The death of Charles H. Collins occurred at his late home in the town of Cherry Valley early Wednesday morning June 25. (1941)

Mr. Collins was born October 1, 1882, a son of the late Walter Collins and Ellen Mereness Collins.

He attended the Chestnut Street School and Leesville churches.

On October 29th, 1902 he was united in marriage to Miss Anna VanSchaick. He followed the occupation of farming and after his father's death conducted the farm where he had always resided.

About 14 years ago he was stricken with arthritis and for the past 8 years he was an invalid and had been tenderly cared for by his wife.

Following a prayer service at his late home, Saturday afternoon, rites were conducted at the Lappeus Funeral parlor in Sharon Spa at 2:30 by Rev. G. Oliver Sands, pastor of the Leesville Lutheran church and the Sharon Springs Masonic Lodge of which the deceased was a member.

Burial was made at Leesville.

Surviving him are his wife and son Eugene, at home, a son Lovillo Collins and a sister, Mrs. Fred Lockwoodof Chestnut STreet, also two nephews, Chester Lockwood of Chestnut STreet and Arthur McFee of Sidney, a niece, Mrs. Warren Wilson of Liberty and two granddaughters, Albertina and Phyllis daughters of Mr. and Mrs. Lovillo Collins.

Out of town persons at the funeral were from Worcester, Libery, Sidney, Syracuse, Fort Plain, Utica, Brooklyn, Palatine Bridge, Little Falls, Mohawk, Cobleskill, Westfield, N.J. and LaPorte, Ind.
