C. Arlington Borst, 79, of Hammerston Village, died Wednesday at Bassett Hospital of Schoharie County in Cobleskill.

Born in Seward, he lived most of his life in Carlisle. He was a graduate of Cobleskill High School.

He was a self-employed dairy farmer, retiring in 1973, and he later worked for more than three years at Burton Enterprises.

He married Laura Kimmey Borst in 1939. She died in 1996.

Survivors include three daughters, Martha Becker of Carlisle, Linda and Janet Lawton, both of Schoharie; two sons, William Borst of Burlington, N.C. and John Borst of Irasburg, Vt.; four sisters, Beatrice Winnie of Cobleskill, Irene Snyder of Delanson, Marcia Dibble of Johnstown and Mary Campbell of Florida; two brothers, Stanley Borst of Sharon Springs and Robert Borst of Florida; nine grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday at the Robert A. Guffin Funeral Home, 1 Chapel St., Cobleskill. Burial will be in Slate Hill Cemetery, Sharon.

Calling hours are from 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Catskill Area Hospice, P.O. Box 39, Cobleskill, 12043.
