Maspeth, Queens County, New York

                              

 

Maspeth was the first European settlement in Queens County in 1642.  Two hundred years later, two farms were broken into lots and sold for development.  Population grew from 56 houses in 1852 to 1,449 residents in 1875 and 4,300 in 1898.
