STERLING, Jacob - Jacob enlisted as a Private on 09 September 1863 at the age of 45 (he was born April 12, 1818).  His enlistment took place in Sandy Creek NY, but he was actually mustered into service in Sackets Harbor NY.  He was in Company K, 20th New York Cavalry Regiment.  The regiment left the state on September 30, 1863. He was honorably discharged out Company K, 20th NY Cavalry Regiment on 31 July 1865 in Manchester, VA.  In poor health when he returned, he died three years later, November 8, 1868.  He is buried in North Boyleston Cemetary, Boyleston, NY.
