To the Surrogate's Court of the County of Oswego, New York. The petition
of Hattie A. Pond of the Town of Mexico in the County of Oswego,
New York, respectfully showeth: That your petitioner is a widow of Fred
D. Pond who
died intestate on or about the 7th day of Nov., 1886 a natural death
being at
the time of his death a resident of the Town of Mexico in the said
County of Oswego, New York. That the said deceased left no last Will, to
the knowledge or belief of your petitioner. That he left him surviving
Hattie A. Ball, his widow and also the following persons his only
next of kin, viz:
Oscar J. Pond, a son, aged 10 years May 10, 1886
Maud B. Pond, a daughter, aged 7 years November 29, 1886
Otis B. Pond, a son, aged 5 years May 25, 1886
Jesse H. Pond, a son, aged 2 years October 26, 1886
All whom reside with their mother your petitioner at Mexico, New York.
That
in the opinion of your petitioner the amount of the real and personal
property left by the said deceased, will not exceed in value as follows,
to wit: Real property $400, Personal property $400. Your petitioner desires
to take out letters of administration on the estate of said deceased, and
also ask that William A. Ball of Mexico, Oswego Co., NY may be associated
with her in such appointment, therefore prays that letters of administration
may be granted to herself and Wm. A. Ball. Dated 18th day of Nov.

money of the United States of America, to be paid to the said people:
To which payment, well and truly to be made, we bind ourselves, out
and each of our heirs, executors and administrators, jointly and severally,
firmly by these

The Condition of the above Obligation is such, That if the above bounder,
Hattie A. Pond & William A. Ball, administrators of all

A True and Perfect Inventory of all and singular the Goods, Chattels
and
Credits which were of Fred D. Pond, deceased, made the 18th
day of Dec. 1886, by Hattie A. Pond & William A. Ball, with
the aid of Alonzo Gray & Jared Ball, appraisers duly appointed
and sworn according to law.
The following articles are set off to (Insert widow and minor children's
names,) Hattie A. Pond, widow & the following children, Oscar
J. Pond aged 11
years, Maud B. Pond aged 7 years, Otis B. Pond aged 6
years, Jesse H. Pond aged 2 years, of the deceased, to which they
entitled by law and not appraised, by virtue of an amendment to the Revised
Statutes; passed May 18, 1874, of which law the following is a copy:
all beds & bedding, all __, 1 table, 6 chairs. In addition to
the above we do appraise and set apart household furniture not exceeding
$150 in value, under above amendment, for the use of the widow and minor
children of said deceased. The balance of the furniture not mentioned above
does not exceed $150 & we therefore set off to said widow & children
the whole furnitures without __ the items.

are set off to the said widow and minor children by virtue of an act passed
April 11, 1842, which may be other articles than household furniture and
not to exceed $150.

A claim against E. B. Chaudley of San Antonio, Texas of about
$500.00 which claim is doubtful.
Also a claim for about 140 head of cattle near Beaudiva, Texas which
claim is
mentioned as doubtful.

of the
County of Oswego, having first taken and subscribed the oath herein
inserted,
certify that we have estimated and appraised the property of Fred
D. Pond,
deceased, exhibited to us, according to the best of our knowledge and
ability, and that we have signed duplicate inventories thereof,

that the foregoing inventory is in all respects just and true; that
it contains a
true statement of all the personal property of the said deceased, which

come to our knowledge, and particularly of all money, bank bills, and
other circulating medium belonging to said deceased; and all just claims
of the
deceased against us according to the best of our knowledge. Sworn and

Accounting Of, Hattie A. Pond & William A. Ball, Ad. of

deceased. The Surrogate aforesaid makes and records this summary statement
of the accounts of Hattie A. Pond and William A. Ball, Ad. of
Fred D. Pond,
late of Mexico in said county, deceased, as finally settled and allowed
by him
upon the application of the said administrators.
Total amount paid out funeral expenses, Debts & Expenses settling
estate -
$902.02
Amount paid Hattie A. Pond as widow - $102.98
Amount paid to Hattie A. Pond as the guardian of all the heirs
of said Fred D. Pond - $205.00 ...... total $1211.00
To total amount received - $1211.00
IN THE SAME MATTER. on the [un-named date] of July 1888 at the
place
aforesaid, the said administrators as aforesaid, did appear and produce
before the said Surrogate due proof of the service in the mode prescribed
by law of the citation heretofore issued in this matter; which said citation
and process being duly filed, and the said Surrogate having examined the
said Administrator upon oath, and their vouchers and accounts, together
with the inventory of the estate of the said deceased, then and there produced;
and it appearing that the said Administrators have accounted for the whole
of the said estate; and that they have not made any profit from any increase
thereof; and the said accounts having been adjusted and filed by said Surrogate
and a summary statement of the same as so adjusted and filed, having been
above and herewith recorded:
It Is Ordered, That the said accounts be, and the same are, finally
settled and allowed, as adjusted and filed by the said Surrogate. And it
appearing from said account that after the payment of all debts, taxes,
funeral expenses and expenses of Administration that there was a balance
of $308.98 for distribution to the heirs entitled.
- page 10 - And it appearing that said Hattie A. Pond
was the widow of said
deceased as by law is entitled to one third of said sum, to wit $102.98
the
__ and account acknowledged the receipt of same as such widow. And
is
appearing that said Hattie A. Pond is the General Guardian of
the infant
heirs of said Fred D. Pond, deceased, duly appointed by this
Court & that she
has given adequate security as such Guardian & that she has received
from
said estate and changed her account as guardian of said heirs the following
for each of said heirs, viz.
Oscar J. Pond - $51.50
Maud B. Pone - $51.50
Jessie H. Pond - $51.50
Otis B. Pond - $51.50
Being the whole sum of which said __ are entitled as distribution. It is
ordered that said administrator & their securities be discharged from
all __ liability on account of said estate.

County, N.Y. Respectfully Showeth, that Letters of administration on the
estate of Fred D. Pond, late of the town of Mexico, Oswego County,
N. Y., deceased, were
granted to your Petitioners on the [un-named date] day of Nov. 1886
that the
persons interested in the estate of said deceased, as creditors, legatees,
next of
kin, or otherwise, and their places of residence, to the best of the
knowledge, information and belief of your Petitioner, are as follows to
wit:

account of all their proceedings to the Surrogate of the County of Oswego,
by whom your petitioner were appointed, and for that purpose pray that
a citation issue to all
persons interested in the estate of said deceased, to attend a
final statement of the account of the proceedings of your Petitioners.

Wm. A. Ball sole administrators of estate of Fred D. Pond, late of
the Town of Mexico, in the County of Oswego, New York, deceased, being
duly sworn
each, says that the annexed and foregoing account contains, according
to the
best of his knowledge and belief, a full and true statement of all
their receipts and disbursements on account of the estate of said deceased
and of all money and
property belonging to the said estate which have come to their hands
or which
have been received by any other person by their order or authority
for their use, and that deponents do not know of any error or omission
in the said account to the prejudice of any creditor or person interested
in the estate of said deceased. And this deponent further says that the
several payments not exceeding twenty dollars each, contains in said account,
and for which no vouchers are produced, were actually made by this deponent
as charged in said account.

(born, January 15, 1857 Mexico Township, Oswego Co., NY - died, May 04,
1937 Mexico Township, Oswego Co., NY). She was the daughter of JARED
BALL, (born, September 1811 Herkimer County, NY - died, 1902 Mexico
Township, Oswego Co., NY) & PHOEBE ANN UNDERHILL, (born,
December 15, 1834 Oswego County, NY - died, March 1910 Mexico Township,
Oswego Co., NY).
