SAMPSON FAMILY GENEALOGY

Many thanks to Mary Lou Guindon for sharing this on the SAMPSON Family.  "My grandmother recently gave me some family bibles. There is a bible that belonged to Frank Sampson who was born in Mexico NY and lived in Wisconsin. He married Ida Miller, sister to Frank E. Miller my great grandfather.

Inside of the bible were several papers, a genealogy going back to the Mayflower, a Sampson genealogy from the Wisconsin Legislature (Assembly Chamber). Also a letter from Ichabod Sampson 7th Gen. from Henry Sampson dated Oct. 31, 1894. I find it all such a treasure and would like to share it.

First I would like to start with a letter from Jennie A. Passmore of 92 East 6th Street Oswego, NY dated Dec. 9th 1933. I don’t know if anyone ever replied to this letter, but I am in hopes that an offspring will see this."  Mary Lou Guindon.

**More information on the SAMPSONS Family, of Oswego County, N. Y., has been added on 1/13/01, by another Sampson descendent, Esther Rancier.

Dec. 9th 1938

Mr. Frank E. Miller

Dear Sir.

We have received the telegram, telling of your sisters death, and funeral. We were very sorry to hear of her death, for we always thought a great deal of her. A year ago this fall she called here on her way from Wolcoot. We noticed she was quite feeble then and feared we would never see her again. My sister who lives with me is over 80 years old and I am almost 79 so we cannot feel able to attend the funeral, which we regret very much. But we would be very grateful if you would have some one write us particulars about her sickness and death. Did she die in her old home?

She showed us one time the genealogy of the Sampson family and said she would give us a copy of it. Just never did. If you ever find it we would be very pleased if we could have a copy of. Frank Sampson got it at the State house in Wisconsin. Frank was our Mothers own cousin. We thank you for letting us know.

Yours truly,
Jennie A. Passmore
