A FAMILY HISTORY OF HORACE AND SUSAN PHILLIPS
of
Oswego County, N.Y.

Many thanks to Hank Schulz, who generously shared this very informative history on his ancestors, the Phillips family.  Hank says, "I wanted to pass along a document that I have, that has been passed down in my family, that outlines the life of Horace and Susan Phillips, who settled in Oswego County in the early to mid 1850s.
Based on the information in the document I believe it was written in the early 1890s. The last date mentioned is in 1889 and there is a reference to Susan (Phillips) Kent born in 1815 still living "in her old home somewhat bowed down beneath the weight of 76 years" in Sandy Creek.  The document was given to me by my aunt, who recieved it from my grandmother. We do not know who the author is, but the dates have proven to be very accurate concerning our family.
We are descendants of ggg grandfather Horace Phillips, his son J. Fayette Phillips, and his daughter Elivira (Phillips) Matott."
