This society was incorporated September 9, 1844, with John J. Lucksinger, Gabriel Blumer, and Frederick Sprenger, trustees.  The first church was built about 1845 on the southeast corner of Cedar and Grape streets, and was removed in 1850 to the west side of Lock street near Belden avenue, and an addition built on the rear.  The present beautiful brick church was erected in 1869, at a cost of about $25,000.
