Lot 88 Cemetery, Manlius South Eagle Village Memo dated Feb 21, 1938 by Elmer Clemons, village of Manlius Historian A farmer living next to the old cemetery in Eagle Village, whose name is Dyerka, tells that when he moved to the farm about fifteen years ago (1923), there were quite a number of stones still standing, and that most of them were, at that time, legible. He remembers a few names, particularly the Johnsons. He claims there were a number by that name buried there. The date of burials were from 1812 or 13 to the early 1830's. He remembers one inscription: Here lies Elizabeth Johnson with her baby - 1815 During the time he has been on the farm, the elements, cows and horses have broken most of the stones. Three or four years ago they were picked up and carried down the knoll in back of the cemetery, to fill up an old well. He and his help, and also the neighbors broke the remaining stones that were standing, and carried them away, claiming to have got tired of looking at that dreary spot. He has never heard of anyone copying the inscriptions, but believes Charles Mills can give more information on that point: he being the present owner of the land where the cemetery is located. He says it is possible the man living opposite the cemetery Mr. Spicer, is using one of the stones for a doorstep.
