NICHOLSON CEMETERY ELBRIDGE, NY Up the road and round the corner that leads down past Fred Whiting's farm there is one of the old burying grounds of the Town of Elbridge, where men and women were laid away more than a hundred years ago. Here lies the body of Dr. David Wilson, founder of the New York State Medical Society. He was Enoch Nicholson's brother in law. There are many stones of rare and ancient beauty here, notably that of Sally Miles, Sands, Corys, Graves, Crofuts, Nicholsons and many others. The old grounds which have been for years uncared for, have recently been cleared of undergrowth, the fences have been rebuilt and a gate hung in the old space where the funeral cortege used to pass. There are other quaint little plots full of old fashioned marble slabs on nearly every country road, and it is the intent of our Supervisor to do everything in his power to bring back the rustic beauty of these plots. from Marcellus Observer, 3 January 1923 Submitted by John Curtin 24 May 1997
