born Northfield at the old Homestead and died there; inherited large land holdings from his father; Rep. at General Court in Boston; Town clerk, Northfield, 1788- 1805; Selectman 15 terms between 1763 & 1793; Lt. in Continental Army; built house used for 5 generations and still in good condition (1868), held many positions of responsibility in church and town.
