Gravestone listed as January 31, 1789. One of the 40 first settlers of Sunderland; home lot No. 14, West side. The dwelling of Mrs William C. Campbell, his great-great-granddauther, stands on this lot and very nearly on the site of the original dwelling, which lot, with the exception of about ten years, has been in possession of the family for 185 years. He was captain, deacon, a man of character and influence. He was a member of that somewhat famous ecclesiastical council held, 1750, in Northampton, which resulted in the dismissal of Rev.Jonathan Edwards.
