Henry Wanzer died on Saturday, aged fifty-five years and six months. The funeral took place in the M. P. Church on Monday and was attended by a very large number of friends. Mr. Wanzer had been in poor health for about two years, during which time his life seemed to slowly ebb away. He enjoyed the full measure of respect and esteem of his neighbors, who keenly feel the loss of a true and vained friend. Three children survive him, Mrs. George H. Mott, George and Jennie Wanzer.

ELMONT-Mr. and Mrs. Theo. W. VanDine have the heartfelt sympathy of the community in their bereavement in the death of their little daughter Inie, who died on Sunday morning of that dread scourge diphtheretic croup. She was a remarkable bright and interesting child and intelligent beyond her years.

LONG ISLAND-Mrs. George S. Cary, mother of Mrs. Nelson G. Carman, Jr., of Brooklyn, with whom she resided, died on Saturday. Mrs. Cary was well known in Babylon, where she had summered for a number of years.

LONG ISLAND-Mrs. Catharine A. Van Nostrand, widow of the late Norman Van Nostrand, died at her residence in Ridgewood Wednesday, in the 75th year of her age. Mrs. Van Nostrand was the mother of Supervisor Van Nostrand, and a connection of the Everitt family of Jamaica.

ROCKAWAY-The infant child of Dennis O'Neill died on Friday.

ROCKAWAY-Mrs. Mary Murphy, mother of the late Father Murphy, died on Saturday at the advanced age of ninety years. The funeral took place on Monday at St. Mary's Star of the Sea, and the interment was at Lawrence. Mrs. Murphy had resided in this village for many years and was held in high esteem by all.

HEMPSTEAD-Mrs. Peter Thomas died on Wednesday, after a brief illness. She was the daughter of Mr. Asa Pettit of Baldwins and a most estimable lady, devoted to her home. Much sympathy is felt for Mr. Thomas and his daughter in their sad bereavement.

Mrs. Elizabeth Hewlett, widow of the late Benjamin Hewlett, died on Thrusday. The funeral took place Sunday afternoon in Trinity Church.

Mr. John C. Hicks, aged 63 years, died on Friday morning. The funeral took place Monday in Trintiy Church. Mr. Hicks had never been married, but kept bachelor's hall; and was the owner of considerable property. He leaves neither parents, brother nor sister.

MISS MARY ALLISON, formerly a teacher in the publick schook, died of consumption at her home in New York on Monday.

The yougest child of Thomas Longsworth, a son, died on Friday. The funeral took place Sunday morning and the remains were taken to Calvary Cemetery.

The widow of the late James Shaw was buried from the M. E. Church Sunday afternoon.

Rockaway Beach
Henry Mueller, aged 61 years, died suddenly on Saturday. He was an old soldier and had in his possession an honorable discharge. As he died without funds with which to defray the cost of burial, the interest of some of the Grand Army men was enlisted in his behalf, and he was buried with fitting honors in Rockville Centre Cemetery, Rev. Mr. Hill officiating at the grave.

MRS. J. LAWRENCE SMITH-On Sunday last, Mrs. J. Lawrence Smith, widow of Ex-Judge Smith, of Suffolk County, died at her residence in New York City. Mrs. Smith was a daughter of the late James Clinch, and a niece of At. T. Stewart. In the recent settlement of the Stewart will contest, she came in at one the heirs, her share amounting to $3,500,000.
