  Ralph W. Davis, 88, of Center Road, died Wednesday, Aug. 26, 1998, at the 
Crouse Community Center,Morrisville, N.Y., following a long illness. 
  He was born Oct. 4, 1909, in Madison, the son of Fred and Ethel Mae Wenham
Davis. 
  He was a Madison resident most of his life and a 1927 graduate of Madison 
High School. He was a self-employed dairy farmer most of his life, retiring 
in 1982. He had also been a substitute mail carrier in Madison, had worked 
for Savage Arms in Utica, and the Conde Milk Machine Co. of Sherrill. 
  He married the former Melora Lamb on Aug. 20, 1930, in Camden. She died on 
July 3, 1982. 
  He was a past member of the Dairylea Co-op and G.L.F. (Agway). He was a 
member of the Woodman and World Society. 
  Surviving are two sons and a daughter-in-law, Stanley E. and Carol Davis 
and Gordon L. Davis, all of Madison; three daughters and a son-in-law, Carole
Silvernail of Franklin, Kathleen Rhodes of Madison and Laurel and James Hall 
of Unadilla; four brothers Lawrence Davis of Madison, H.Fredric Davis of Port
St. Lucie, Fla., Bernard Davis of Bouckville, and Richard Davis of 
Schenectady; a sister, Ethlyn Pray of Salinas, Calif; 12 grandchildren, 12 
great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a 
daughter, Helen Ford, on Feb.27,1960
