CANASTOTA - Norman A. Barriger, 80, of RR 7, Box 565, died Tuesday, Jan. 4, 
2000, in the Veterans Administration Hospital in Syracuse. 
 
He was born on March 17, 1919, in Madison, the son of Isaac and Lucy Sharer 
Barriger. 
 
Mr. Barriger was a former resident of Vernon for most of his life, before 
moving to Canastota two years ago. 
 
He was a former trucker for Janowski Brothers of Vernon Center for many years,
before retiring in 1980. 
 
Mr. Barriger served his country, first with the U.S. Army and later with the 
U.S Navy during World War II. He received an honorary discharge from both 
military branches. 
 
Mr. Barriger was a former commander of the Vernon American Legion, William 
Russell, Post No. 404. 
 
Among his survivors are one brother, Harold E. Barriger of Oneida.
