            Mary Dorrance, 91 
 
 Mary W. Dorrance, 91, of Pleasant Valley Road, Peterboro, died Tuesday evening, March 27, 1990, 
at the Stonehedge Nursing Home, Chittenango. 
 She was born March 29, 1898, in Leroy, the daughter of Thomas and Mary McClelland White. She 
married Roger Dorrance on Sept. 4, 1920, in Leroy. He died Sept. 19, 1971. 
 Mrs. Dorrance was a graduate of Genesee Normal School. She was a teacher for 42 years, teaching 
in the Peterboro Union and Peterboro grade schools, Mt. Morris High School, Fenner School No. 7 and 
the Morrisville-Eaton Central School. 
 Mrs. Dorrance was a member of the Peterboro United Methodist Church, serving as financial secretary 
and honorary trustee, She was a charter member of the association of Mathematics Teacher of New 
York State. She was a member of the Madison County Retired Teachers Association, the Hamilton 
Chapter of the Order of Eastern Star and the Madison County Historical Society. 
 Surviving are one son, James H. Dorrance of Peterboro; one daughter, Alice Marie Gerbig of Cazenovia; 
two sisters, Mytle Neville of Cleveland and Hazel Olcott of Morrisville; nine grandchildren, 14 great-grand-
children and three great-great-grandchildren. 
 Funeral services were held Friday, March 30, 1990, at 2 p.m. from the Barker-Burgess Funeral Home, 
Cedar Street, Morrisville, with the Rev. Matthew Schnur, pastor of the Peterboro United Methodist Church, 
officiating, Burial was in Peterboro Cemetery.
