  Louis R. Jacob 
 
  Louis R. Jacob, 83, of 101 N. Court St., died Wednesday, Nov. 10, 1999, in 
the Oneida Healthcare Center where he had been a medical patient for the past
two days. 
  Mr. Jacob was born on March 11, 1916 in Utica, the son of Joseph and Esther
Thome Jacob. He attended the Utica Public Schools and graduated from Mohawk 
Valley Community College with an Associate's Degree in Computer and 
accounting. 
  Mr. Jacob came to Oneida in 1936 and on June 8, 1942, in St. Patrick's 
Church, Oneida, he married Josephine A. Maiura. 
  Mr. Jacob was general supervisor of payroll and inventory at Oneida Limited
Silversmiths for 35 years, retiring in 1981. He and his wife previously owned
and operated the Candlelite Restaurant in Hamilton. 
  Mr. Jacob was a member of St. Patrick's Church in Oneida, the Loyal Order 
of the Moose Lodge No. 421 Oneida, the Oneida Limited Retirement Club and the
Foremen's Retirement Club. He was a former member of the E. Bart Hanifin 
Council No. 473 Knights of Columbus in Oneida. 
  Mr. Jacob was an avid fisherman and thoroughly enjoyed cooking. 
  Surviving are his wife; two sons and daughters-in-law, Ronald and Christine
Jacob of Sherrill and Daniel and Gloria Jacob of Rochester; one daughter and 
son-in-law, Diane and Rodney "Chuck" Petrie of Oneida; one sister and 
brother-in-law, Mary and Lewis James of Wampsville; five grandchildren, 
Michael Jacob and his wife Jill and Ballston Spa, Scott Colvin of Boston, 
Ryan Colvin of Oneida, Daniel Jacob and Angelique Jacob, both of Rochester; 
one great-grandson, Benjamin Louis Jacob. He was predeceased by a brother, 
Ameen Jacob.
