CANASTOTA - Lucy E. Carr, 83, of 331 Russell St., and a former Canastota 
resident, died Sunday, Dec. 19, 1999, at Stonehedge Nursing Home, 
Chittenango, following a lengthy illness. 
 
She was born Jan. 29, 1916, in Canastota, the daughter of Nelson and Lucy 
Hitchcock Seaman. 
 
Lucy had lived in the Canastota area all of her life, attending the Whitelaw 
School. 
 
She loved to play bingo at the Stonehedge Nursing Home, where she resided for
the past five years. 
 
Lucy married Joseph E. Carr Sr. on April 4, 1936. Mr. Carr died on Oct. 29, 
1970. 
 
Surviving are three sons, Joseph E. Carr Jr., Herbert Carr and Edward Carr, 
all of Morrisville; three daughters, Elizabeth Gorton and Nellie Jackson, 
both of Rome, and Susan Carr of Syracuse; one brother and sister-in-law, 
Leonard and Mary Seaman ofEdgewater, Fla.; 14 grandchildren; several great-
grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
