  James W. Redding 
 
  James W. Redding, 75, of Box 103, Pratts Road, died early Saturday morning,
Oct. 23, 1999, at his residence, following a long illness. 
  He was born May 8, 1924, in Canastota, the son of William and Ruth Helmer 
Redding. 
  On July 26, 1946, he married the former Janice Zimmerman. She died Oct. 4, 
1983. He then married the former Shirley Adams in August of 1990. 
  Mr. Redding had been employed as a supervisor for Griffiss Air Force Base 
in Rome for 31 years, retiring in 1983. 
  He was a veteran of World War II, having served with the U.S. Navy as a 
Frogman in the European Theater. 
  Surviving are his wife; one son and daughter-in-law, James and Elizabeth 
Redding of Oneida; two daughters, Penny Redding of California and Kathy Lohr 
of Munnsville; one step-son, Robert Dukett of Canastota; four step-daughters,
Linda Dukett of Texas, Joann Twiss and Gail Dukett, both of Eaton, and Betsy 
McKay of Pratts Hollow; two brothers, Frederick Redding of Florida and 
William Redding of Kansas; one sister, Ruth Hornyak of Oneida; two grandsons,
Tracey Redding and Jamie Redding; seven step-grandchildren, Candy Dukett, 
Kristine Dukett, Kristofer Dukett, Joshua Twiss, Brandy Twiss, Justin Twiss, 
and Steven McKay; and several nieces and nephews.
