JOHN E. THURSTON 
 
 John E. Thurston, 77, of 115 West Elm St., was pronounced dead on arrival last evening at the 
Oneida City Hospital, following a heart attack at his home.  Born in Munnsville April 7, 1894, he was 
the son of Marshall and Claire Taylor Thurston. He had been a lifelong resident of the area. He was 
married to the former Mary Miller, who died June 17, 1966.  Mr. Thurston was a retired employee of 
the Olney and Floyd Canning Co. 
 He was a veteran of World War I, having served in the Army. He was a member of the American 
legion Post 169. 
 Surviving are one brother, Louis Thurston of Rochester; one niece, Mrs. Howard (Etta May) Lehr or 
Rochester; one nephew, Earl Thomas in Florida; a sister-in-law, Mrs. Mina Thurston, with whom he 
had resided; and several other nieces and nephews.
