 Hugh T. Davis Sr. 
 
  Hugh T. Davis Sr., 89, of Pleasant Vally Road, died Monday, Oct. 5, 1998, 
at the Oneida Healthcare Center. 
  He was born May 23, 1909, in the town of Smithfield, the son of Hugh T. and
Jennie Manel Davis. 
  He was a life resident of the Morrisville area. He received his education 
in Peterboro schools. 
  Mr. Davis married the former Mary E. Roberts on June 7, 1934, in 
Clockville. The couple have been married for 64 years. He owned and operated 
his Morrisville dairy farm for most of his life, passing it down to his son 
and grandson who still operate it. 
  Mr. Davis was a member of the Peterboro United Methodist Church and was the
current president of the Welsh Church Cemetery Association of Nelson. 
  He was the past president of the First National Bank of Morrisville and its
Board of Directors. Mr. Davis was a past Justice of the Peace for the town of
Nelson, past Treasurer of the Madison County 4-H Junior Fair and was 4-H 
leader for many years. 
  He was also a past member of the Masonic Lodge and was Supervisor of the 
town of Nelson. 
  Surviving are his wife; ond daughter, Margaret Davis of Syracuse; two sons 
and daughters-in-law, Hugh "Tom" Jr. and Joy Davis and Robert "Bob" and 
Rosalie Davis, all of Morrisville; nine grandchildren, nine great-grand-
children; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
