Munnsville - George E. "Buster" Burgdoff, 91, of 4029 Route 46, died Saturday, Oct. 27, 2001, at Community Memorial Hospital, Hamilton, following a lengthy illness.

He was born on Aug. 13, 1910, in Clockville, the son of George W. and Lena Weed Burgdoff.

George had lived in the Munnsville area most of his life, attending area schools.

He had owned and operated, along with his wife Alice, a small dairy farm in Munnsville from 1944-1980. He had also been a school bus driver for 20 years for the Stockbridge Valley Central Schools, retiring in 1976.

George was an avid bowler who enjoyed fishing, hunting, and some sports, especially snowmobiling.

He had been a member of Munnsville Lodge No. 484 IOOF (International Order of Odd Fellows), and a former member of the American Bowling Congress and was a former member of the National Guard.

George had attended the Stockbridge United Methodist Church.

He married Alice Ostrander on Aug. 18, 1934 in Canastota. Alice died on May 3, 1980.

Surviving are: one son and duaghter-in-law, Richmond and Rody Burgdoff of Statesville, N.C.; two daughters, Betty Helmer of Oneida and Nancy Curtis of Munnsville; 15 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and cousins; and a dear friend and neighbor, Rosamond Virgil of Munnsville. George was predeceased by a sister, Gladys Ostrander.
