  George D. Stratton 
 
  George D. Stratton, 80, of South Court St., died Tuesday morning, April 20,
1999, at his residence, following a lengthy illness. 
  He was born on Oct. 22,1918, in Utica, the son of Joseph and Ruth Ingalls 
Stratton. He was a resident of Wampsville for the past 38 years. Mr. Stratton
was educated in Morrisville schools. 
  Mr. Stratton, for many years, owned and operated Stratton's Sunoco Service 
Station in Canastota and also was self-employed as a building contractor. He 
was of the Methodist faith. 
  Surviving are his wife of 54 years, the former Fanny Parmeter; three 
daughters, Connie O'Rourke of New Smyrna Beach, Fla., Pamela Alger of Buffalo
and Paula Thurston of Liverpool; six sons and five daughters-in-law, Gary and
Patricia Stratton, Robert and Nancy Stratton and George and Paula Stratton 
Jr., all of Oneida, David Stratton of Raleigh, N.C., Guy and Elizabeth 
Stratton of Houston, Texas, and Douglas and Cindy Richmond of Wampsville; and
numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren,nieces and nephews. He was  
predeceased by a son William D. Stratton,in 1969, and a daughter, Susanne 
Peterson, in 1976.
