  Evah Mae Tompkins, 95, died Thursday, July 29, 1999 at Oneida Healthcare 
Center Extended Care Facility, where she had been a resident since August 
1996. 
  She was born Nov. 4, 1903 in Redfield, the daughter of Otis and Harriet 
Potter Elmer and was a lifelong resident of Redfield. 
  On Jan. 11, 1922, she married Glenn G. Tompkins in Redfield. Together, the 
couple owned and operated the Knotty Pine Restaraunt as well as a gas station 
and general store in Redfield for many years. Mr.Tompkins died Jan. 27, 1982. 
  Mrs. Tompkins was a contributor to the Queen Central News, the Pulaski 
Journal and the Oswego County Weeklies for many years. She was a member of 
the Redfield Community Church and a former member of the Redfield Area 
Ladies Home Bureau. 
  Surviving are one daughter, Verna Albanese of Canastota; one son and 
daughter-in-law, Keith and Judy Tompkins of Redfield; five grandchildren and 
eight great- grandchildren.
