CANASTOTA - Edward A. Smith, 85, of 7131 Lorraine Drive, died Sunday, Nov. 
28, 1999, at the Oneida Healthcare Center, following a brief illness. 
 
He was born on Dec. 4, 1913, the son of Arthur and Effie Beadle Smith. 
 
Edward spent his early years in Bainbridge, attending the Bainbridge schools.
He had also lived in Cortland, Liberty, Chittenango and Erieville before 
moving to Canastota in 1991. 
 
He had been an electrician with the I.B.E.W. Local 1249 in East Syracuse for
24 years, retiring in 1975. 
 
Edward married Luella M. Shaver on July 12, 1935, in Greene. Luella died on 
Aug. 8, 1999. 
 
Surviving are one daughter, Marjorie Finn of Canastota; four grandchildren, 
Mark Finn, Maureen Stagnitti, Margaret Bennett and Michael Finn; four great-
grandchildren,   Gina  Stagnitti,  Samuel Stagnitti) Jennifer Bennett and 
Joseph Hubbard; and several nieces and nephews. Edward was predeceased by 
three brothers, Leon Smith, Fa(?) Smith and Everett Smith and two sisters, 
Elizabeth Genneso and Gladys Eaton.
